Charlene Reano
Four Winds Gallery welcomes Charlene and Frank Reano to Australia for their first international exhibition.
A leading traditional jeweller working exclusively in the old style mosaic on shell method. Charlene has been one of the gallery's preferred artists since the 90s. The exotic, colourful shells, turquoises and corals she selects to execute her pieces are transformed into exquisite necklaces, bracelets and earrings all backed on shell.

Charlene Reano was born in 1960 in San Felipe Pueblo. After studying at New Mexico Highlands University for a year, she then worked with a jewellery company doing inlay, stone cutting and setting. Influenced by her mother inlaw Clara Reano and encouraged by her sister inlaw Angie Reano, Charlene first started jewellery making with her husband Frank Reano in the 1980s.
Charlene's pieces incorporate contemporary ideas with traditional style and technique. Whilst she designs cuts and places the stones, Frank finishes the pieces with grinding and polishing.
The use of the finest quality stones and shells help her to create extraordinarily exotic, dramatically coloured, sculptural jewellery.
Charlene is now recognised as one of the finest mosaic artists working today. Since the early 90s Charlene has been winning the blue ribbon for her work in Santa Fe. This is a highly prestigious award presented for the best in contemporary jewellery art. Her exhibitions across America include Chicago, New York, Florida, California, Arizona, Indiana and now Australia.
Charlene says of her work, "I use materials in my pieces that make people look! When they buy my work it makes them happy which makes me happy!"
