NaNa Ping

NaNa Ping

Four Winds Gallery welcomes NaNa Ping for his second exhibition in Australia.

NaNa Ping has had a lifetime exposure to the art of Native American jewellery. His elder family members introduced him to jewellery, artistry and stone cutting during his early youth. He took that knowledge and incorporated his artistic talent of finding natural stones with beautiful colour and blending them to make the exquisite art pieces he is recognised for in jewellery artistry today.

NaNa Ping is a Pascua Yaqui Indian. Yaqui elders carry the tradition of their origins, which speak of the Yaqui as the "Yomea", meaning the "People" coming from the stars to live where they are today. Many of NaNa Ping's works detail the universe with its stars and planets. His indulgent use of exotic turquoises, corals and sugarlites set in a deep cobblestone technique encased in silver and gold is what he has become renowned for.

The pieces in this collection rival any of his creations to date.
