Bronze Artist of Native American Wildlife
Four Winds Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of multi award winning exquisite bronze sculptures finished in exotic polished stone patinas, some of which have never been previewed before.
A self taught artist, Deurloo's style blooms from within rather than forged from external teachings. Although appearing to be chiselled from solid rock, they are cast in molten bronze and finished with several layers of stone like patina. He has learned over his 25 year career that capturing every detail in a sculpture can actually detract from a piece. An exquisite form, combined with a touch of mystery, will not only capture the spirit of the animal, but will allow a viewer to bring their own experience to play in the appreciation of his works of art.
He explains, "Native Americans generally believed the more primitive and mysterious life forms to be closer to the Great Spirit. Detail detracts from spirituality, so simple representation of the animal will render the closest artistic tie to the Great Spirit..."
