Cody learned his craft by experimenting, asking questions of other jewellers and taking classes on techniques such as tufa casting.

Cody's first showing at the world renowned Indian Market in Santa Fe in 2002 immediately won the notice of colletors. Since then, Cody has received numerous prestigious awards and honors including Best of Show (2008) at the Heard Museum for his rendition of a sterling silver Rubik's Cube. Cody's work has also been featured in numerous books and magazines including Contemporary Southwestern Jewellery by Diana Pardue and Trend Magazine's Master Artisan's series. Cody was awarded Smithsonian and SWAIA Fellowships, an honor which only a select few are granted.

Cody's use of both traditional and contemporary themes provide the inspiration to create truly unique pieces. He works primarily in sterling silver and 18-karat gold, although he does sometimes enjoy working in aluminium, copper, stainless steel and 14-karat gold.
